It may seem like a cliche, but once again, our national leaders—from both parties—remain silent on climate and overly deferential to industry. Tonight's debate is no different. 

The debate between Biden and Trump offers an important chance for the American people to examine the issues. But somehow, tonight’s discussion won’t address one of the most urgent issues confronting the future.

As Cori Bush, one of our fellow progressives in the trenches said, “The West coast is still on fire, but climate change is not a topic in the presidential debate.”

Sadly, Cori is right. We're gathering tonight to hear from our choices for the presidency, yet we won’t hear about their approaches to the most urgent issue confronting our grandchildren.

That's why I'll be live-tweeting the presidential debate this evening and covering the topics we desperately need to address as a country.
