Dear Friend,
Last night, Maine candidate for U.S. Senate Lisa Savage
absolutely nailed it in her second debate appearance.
Here are some of the reactions from social media:
“Really grateful to have a candidate
that is strongly advocating for the legislation that my generation
desperately wants to see enacted in Congress!”
“Thank you for focusing on what you
stand for and will try to do instead of tearing down your opponents. I
have been wishing for such a candidate for a very long time...”
“This debate was the first exposure I
have had to you. Very good and insightful answers. Also I was
impressed with the self control and composure all three of you women
maintained as you endured angry sexist attacks.”
One reason Lisa's campaign has been able to break through the usual
"GreenOut" is the election will be voted on using Ranked Choice Voting
— which Mainers fought for and won over years. Will
you give to the Green Party today so we can continue supporting
movements to democratize our elections — not just with RCV but also
Proportional Representation and Fully-Public Campaign
Finance?
I
encourage you to watch and share Lisa's debate performance from last
night. It's a world apart from the undemocratic,
duopoly-arranged "debate" scheduled for Trump and Biden this
evening.
The exclusion of Howie Hawkins and other alternative party
candidates from presidential debates is one more form of voter
suppression we've seen in 2020, adding to petitioning during a
pandemic and then kangaroo court decisions to invalidate our
petitions.
The Hawkins/Walker campaign will be active on Twitter
tonight, responding to the farcical "debate". And definitely
do not miss Howie's live response starting at 11pm ET
on Facebook,
Twitter and other social media.
Are you sick of presidential debates that silence voices and voter
choices? Then we need to organize, fight and win. Power concedes
nothing without a demand, right? Donate
today so the demand of Grassroots Democracy becomes tomorrow's
reality.
In Solidarity, Gloria Mattera Co-Chair Green Party of the

P.S. Time for some real talk. Greens have been profoundly
supportive this year, and we're grateful. But COVID-19 hurt household
incomes across the country and that meant many of our Monthly Sustainers had to take a break
from contributing monthly. Those contributions are the backbone of our
grassroots fundraising. If
you have ever thought about becoming a Monthly Sustainer — now is the
time when you could a have huge impact! Thank you
to all current Sustainers and everyone who supports
the Green Party however they can.
