Last Friday morning, I stood on the steps of the U.S. Capitol with women members of Congress to honor Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the first woman to lie in state there. It was an overwhelming moment for me - and for the women gathered for whom she had made so much possible.

I flew home to Houston that evening and went straight to a drive-in screening of "Good Trouble," the documentary of the life of Congressman John Lewis. I had the privilege of introducing the movie to the crowd that had gathered to watch.

I felt acutely all we have lost this year as we have said goodbye to these champions for justice, equality, and democracy--and all we have gained because of them. Each of them moved the nation. Each of them made possible so much progress. And each of them never gave up.

Now, it is up to us to carry on their work and carry out their vision. There are many ways to do that. For me, it means winning this election and serving our community - and doing all I can to help elect committed public servants who will work together for the benefit of all. I know you are doing your part for me and for them, and I am grateful.

For nearly two years, I have sent you an email on days like today, as the quarterly FEC reporting deadline nears, asking for your support for my campaign. And you have responded so generously. I am continually amazed by the strength of #TeamLizzie - especially on days like today.

I don't have to tell you today how much is at stake in this election. I know you know it. And I hope you know by now how much you can help in this race, and how much winning this race can help our country.
