Dear John,

As the 2020 election approaches, the policy experts at Family Research Council are working to produce the best possible resources to help you navigate the political landscape from a biblical perspective. Along these lines, we would like to share with you a recent article, "The 2020 Election: A Clear Distinction on Abortion," which was published in Public Discourse.

FRC knows you desire to speak the truth in love and model Christ-like behavior in your life. We also know political matters can be challenging to discuss at church, work, or with family members and friends. However, we believe that difficult conversation topics can lead to stronger personal convictions. This article analyzes one of the most long-standing topics at stake in this year's election--abortion and the sanctity of human life.

The article answers questions like:

  • How will policies and positions on abortion play a role in the 2020 election?
  • What is the Trump administration's record on abortion-related issues?
  • What is Joe Biden's record on abortion-related issues?
  • What do the individual party platforms articulate as their agenda concerning abortion issues?

As noted in the article, the result of the 2020 election will influence the trajectory of abortion law in America. Christians everywhere should gather information on the candidates, prayerfully seek wisdom from the Lord, and stand firmly on God's Word as they prepare to choose their leaders this November.

Christians believe the gospel of Jesus Christ has implications for all areas of life, including life in the womb. Christians ought to defend the lives of the unborn and care for men and women affected by the tragedy of abortion. One way we can stand up for the unborn is by educating ourselves on the candidates for public office and their stances on abortion and human life. This means reviewing each candidates' records, policy proposals, and campaign promises on these issues.

To this end, this article outlines what issues will be affected by the upcoming election and the major candidates' positions on:

  • Whether to maintain the Mexico City Policy, which blocks federal funding of abortions internationally;
  • Whether abortions should be paid for with taxpayer money;
  • Whether the Hyde Amendment should be preserved or repealed;
  • Whether Roe v. Wade should be codified;
  • Whether partial-birth abortions should be permitted.

Our prayer is that this article will help you cut through the political noise and understand how various policies on abortion and human life will be affected by the outcome of the November election.

Be sure to read "The 2020 Election: A Clear Distinction on Abortion." For further information on how Christians should think about their political responsibilities, visit FRC.org/engage.
