Will you be watching the presidential debate?

Vice President Joe Biden and the importance of this election have got me thinking: Even President Trump agreed to a debate — while Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has ignored not one, but two invitations to debate me in the race for Mississippi’s U.S. Senate seat. TWO!

Remember, not only has Senator Hyde-Smith professed to side with Trump 100% of the time. Her pal Mitch McConnell said debates were good. And Hyde-Smith herself has even said in the past that she wouldn’t mind debating me.

I believe debates are an important part of our democracy. The people of Mississippi deserve to hear directly from the candidates running to represent them in Washington. So today, I ask again: What is Cindy Hyde-Smith afraid of?

I mean really, a sitting senator from Mississippi should have no problem discussing the issues most important to voters.

Yet Cindy Hyde-Smith refuses to hold town halls, hides from her constituents, and ignores reporters. She’s so out of touch, that she even used international stock footage in her TV ad, instead of real Mississippians. Stock footage!

So while my opponent claims that our campaign is just a bunch of “noise,” the truth is we’re giving this incumbent a real run for her money, and she knows it. Just last week, we raised more money than she did in an entire financial quarter!

Let’s keep putting the pressure on Senator Hyde-Smith to give the people of Mississippi what they deserve: A public debate of the issues between the candidates in this race.
