John,

It seems like every four years we hear the same line: This is the most
important election of our lifetime.

But that’s not what I’m here to talk to you about today, John.
I’m here to let you know what we’re going to do after we vote—regardless
of the outcome.

We are, and always will be, up against opponents who don’t want to see
Black people get free from police violence. And sadly, our opponents have
great power and influence — like Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who let
Breonna Taylor’s murderers off the hook last week. And Mayor Greg Fischer,
who has still refused to fire the officers despite Breonna’s family
winning a wrongful death lawsuit.^1

John, here’s what we’re going to do: we’re going to keep
fighting like hell to make this world a less hostile place for Black
people by ending police violence and mass incarceration — no matter who is
sworn into office next year.

John, are you ready to gear up the fight with us to end police
violence?

[ [link removed] ]YES, Count me in for $5 a month!

John, let me tell you this. This is not the time to get bogged
down and discouraged. And it’s most certainly not the time to give up on
the millions of Black people who languish behind bars due to a criminal
legal system that doesn’t value Black life.

Now is the time to envision the future we want our children to live in,
which includes fully-funded schools with more guidance counselors, not
cops. It includes affordable housing, quality jobs, and a liveable wage.
We can only create the future we want by fighting for it.

Yes, there’ll be bumps in the road. And yes, our opponents will try to
outspend us. But we can end police violence because our movement has
something our opponents do not: We have you, John. When elected
officials enable police violence, you don’t back down — you stand up. You
stand with us as we call on DAs across the country to release protesters
from jail. Your courage to call for justice in the face of opposition is
exactly what we need to end police violence.

Are you ready to fight like hell with us to end police terror on Black
people? [ [link removed] ]Chip in $5 a month to power the movement to end police violence
— no matter who is sworn into office next year!

John, I’m challenging you to imagine the future you envision
for Black communities. What will it look like when Black women and girls
don’t fear being shot in their homes by the police? And how will our
communities benefit when Black trans and gender non-conforming people
don’t face arrest for walking while trans?^2

Here’s what I know: If we didn’t live under the constant threat of police
violence, we’d have more time to focus on building thriving communities
and living our best lives, and less time mourning tragic deaths. If our
people were freed from cages, more of our families would remain connected.
And if police budgets weren’t so bloated, our communities would receive
the critical investments we need.

We must continue to fight for the world we want our kids to live in —
before and after we vote.
