Today we walked in solidarity with unions at the New York City Labor Day Parade. Thanks to the New York City Central Labor Council for founding this parade that brings together thousands of union members to celebrate the contributions of working men and women across the world.

Thanks to unions we have the 8 hour work day, weekends, and countless other workplace rights because union workers fought hard and took big risks to stand up for what’s right.
This parade is an important reminder to take a moment to appreciate what unions have done for this country.
And we have a long way to go. The fight for $15 is still being waged across the country and the federal minimum wage is still just $7.25!
That’s just not right. Every worker deserves a good job and a fair wage.

As a mom, I know it’s even harder for women to work and raise a family. Women should never have to choose between a job and raising a family. We need to pass paid parental leave to support working families. We need to increase access to affordable childcare.
American families deserve better. I will fight for other moms and families in Congress.
