POLITICO: “The Trump team has been studying Biden’s idiosyncrasies in debates and other venues and preparing tactics for Trump, according to interviews with a dozen campaign aides, White House officials and outside advisers.”
Per POLITICO, those “tactics” are based around getting Biden to verbally stumble on stage tonight -- which would help along the president’s argument that the Democratic nominee lacks the mental acuity to lead. Trump’s team has pushed this narrative knowing full well that Biden has faced a lifelong struggle with stuttering and that, as Biden explained while offering advice to young people who stutter “it has nothing to do with your intellectual makeup.”
Biden has insisted he’s unafraid of Trump, telling supporters: “I’m looking forward to getting on the debate stage with Trump and holding him accountable. I think I know how to handle bullies -- we’ll find out.”
We certainly will -- and we’re rooting for our Scranton scrapper every step of the way. But we can’t forget how low Trump stooped in the last presidential debates -- launching personal attacks on debate moderators and even promising he’d put Hillary Clinton in jail.
