Climate Week NYC just wrapped up. As an official event host for Climate Week NYC 2020, Ceres held and participated in a number of virtual sessions to outline the ways in which investors, companies, policymakers, and regulators can scale action to mitigate the worst impacts of the climate crisis. And as Climate Week wrapped up, Ceres CEO and President, Mindy Lubber, issued an urgent call to action in her new Forbes column: “The New Climate Normal". Pointing out the alarming increase in climate-fueled weather events, from wildfires to hurricanes, Mindy’s article calls on the world’s largest investors and companies to lead the way, “both by transforming their business models to a net-zero emissions future and by demanding government policies that eschew fossil fuels.” Read more>>
Despite this ‘new climate normal’, there is hope. With very little time left to take meaningful action on the climate crisis, we need more investors and companies advocating for solutions than ever before. The good news is, despite the impact of the pandemic on our lives and economy, climate is still a major priority for the business community. We are seeing that through the increase in interest and growth of our influential investor and company networks and initiatives.
Our influential member-based networks and initiatives of investors and companies saw significant growth in 2020, welcoming 62 new members joining Ceres to tackle climate and a host of other sustainability challenges.
