Their babies are torn away.
They're kept in their own waste.
Their injuries go untreated.

The hideous treatment that cows and calves endure for dairy is a far cry from the quaint, rustic barns and lush pastures you may see featured on packaging and in advertisements for milk and cheese.
At Reitz Dairy Farm in Pennsylvania, cows were forced to limp through manure or lie amid waste, putting them at risk for infection. Workers violently struck them on their sensitive udders and failed to provide them with veterinary care, even though some had painful masses on their legs oozing blood and pus.
The left eye socket of a cow the eyewitness named Betsy was covered with protruding tissue and secreted fluid—yet the farm manager refused to do anything for her gruesome injury.
One cow, named Caroline by the eyewitness, developed severe lameness. She was ignored and forced to stand in a pen full of manure until the day she was found dead.
Your gift—even $5—can help protect animals from the tremendous suffering Betsy and Caroline endured.
This isn't the first time Reitz's cruelty has been exposed. Whistleblowers have repeatedly complained about the conditions there, and a previous PETA investigation documented that cows who were in so much pain that they couldn't even stand up were electroshocked, kicked, or jabbed with a blade. Others were merely left for dead.
The surest way to help protect cows and other animals from this misery is by going vegan. That's why PETA is persuading thousands to stop buying dairy milk, cheese, and other animal-derived foods; collaborating with restaurants and companies to help them expand their vegan options; and launching groundbreaking investigations showing that cruel farms like Reitz aren't just "bad apples"—they're examples of the abuse inherent in the dairy industry.
Your gift today will help power all this work persuading more people to choose a lifestyle that protects all animals from harm.
Please boost all our vital work for cows and other animals by donating whatever you can afford, even $5, today.
Thank you for your compassion and generosity.
