Dear John,

I hope you're as excited as I am for Atlas Network's virtual Liberty Forum & Freedom Dinner (LFFD) ([link removed]) , which will be held November 11–12. One of the things I love most about LFFD is that I always come away from it refreshed and reenergized. Seeing our partners come together to learn from one another and to share their stories of success is nothing short of inspirational.

Dignity Unbound ([link removed]) is a project dedicated to sharing those stories with a broader audience. I'm excited to moderate a breakout session on the international success of the Dignity Unbound and its next phase in the United States. The conversation will feature Arpita Nepal of the Samriddhi Foundation in Nepal and Randy Hicks of the Georgia Center for Opportunity in the United States. You can read more about the session below.

Don't forget to register for LFFD so that you can be a part of this important conversation.

About Arpita Nepal & Samriddhi Foundation ([link removed])

Arpita Nepal is the co-founder and advisor of Research & Development at Samriddhi Foundation. She also oversees curriculum design of The Foundation’s education and training programs along with strategizing advocacy campaigns.

Arpita will discuss how we can best achieve outcomes favorable to women in countries with emerging markets. Samriddhi's research has shown that the best approach to economic empowerment for women is to treat them as equals and allow them the space to come up with creative solutions to their own problems. However, much of policy discourse favors a patronizing attitude towards women in terms of determining the best approach to resolve their issues be it through positive discrimination or through kindly meant interventions. Our challenge therefore is to overcome this patronizing attitude.

About Randy Hicks & the Georgia Center for Opportunity ([link removed])

Randy Hicks is the president and chief executive officer of the Georgia Center for Opportunity (GCO), an independent, non-partisan organization that conducts public policy research and mobilizes community resources to address the three elements of the success sequence: education, employment, and family formation.

Hicks will explain GCO's unique approach to solving poverty in low-income communities and how reducing barriers to reintegration of formerly incarcerated individuals improves outcomes for all. In Georgia one in 19 adults are under some form of correctional supervision, and for all Georgians to thrive, criminal justice reform, prisoner reentry, and community reintegration are more important than ever.

Dignity Unbound: A New Approach to Solving Poverty ([link removed])
Atlas Network’s Dignity Unbound project is changing the conversation about how to address the problem of poverty. Over the past four years, Atlas Network has worked with our partners in Latin America, Asia, and Europe to remove government-imposed barriers to enterprise and to increase economic freedom. These partners have improved access to property rights, simplified and reduced the costs of entering the formal economy, and reduced tax burdens.

Now, Atlas Network is turning attention to low-income communities in the United States that—especially in the wake of this year’s pandemic—need the economic opportunities that only emerge when free enterprise is unshackled from burdensome government.
Plus presentations by renowned activists from around the globe who work for freedom in the midst of tyranny and oppression every day.

I look forward to seeing you in November.
