Dear John

This week has seen politicians from all parties unite to block the Prime Minister’s plans for Britain to crash out of the EU with no deal.

It’s a huge achievement and Greens have played a leading role.

I explained to Parliament why a General Election is a trap and our Green peer Jenny Jones also played a key role in the House of Lords too.

Boris Johnson is rattled but he’s been planning all his life to be in number 10, so he’s not giving up without a fight.

He is planning to suspend Parliament to try to prevent MPs holding him to account, and is cynically seeking a General Election so that we can crash out of the EU by default while MPs are out campaigning.

But we have called out his trap.

Johnson has said he’d rather “die in a ditch” than rule out no deal.  And the Leader of the House, Jacob Rees Mogg, has famously shown his utter contempt for parliament.

As the Westminster Party leaders continue their cross party talks over the weekend, I will speak up for you. A People’s Vote remains the best way to resolve the Brexit crisis and having a Green in the room making the case has made a real difference.

We are the only Party that has consistently stood up for remaining in the EU, for reforming the EU, for a People’s Vote and for a democratic and constitutional revolution to tackle the underlying causes of the Brexit vote.

The next few days could change the course of history. John, will you join the Greens and help me defend democracy?

Together we can stop the Boris power grab – let’s do it.

In solidarity,

Caroline Lucas MP
