Hello,
I hope that you are all staying safe in these trying times -- the state of the country, the pandemic, the election, there's so much to grapple with.
It's safe to say that the coronavirus pandemic has revealed
a lot about who we share our homes with, who our friends are, what our partners truly care about and who they are deep down as people. And while I can't say I'd choose for our country to be in this place,
it has certainly reinforced why I’m so proud to call Antonio my life partner.
Our family at the virtual campaign kickoff
In our household, Antonio and I have learned a lot about ourselves and each other over the last six months, redefining how we care for ourselves and each other and our children. As parents, our duties have grown and expanded in ways we never imagined (as have our appreciation and dedication to making sure teachers get the resources and compensation they need to continue to do their hard work).
No matter how busy I have been with work or Antonio has gotten with all the madness in Washington and the real needs of the district, we have never paused on figuring out how to equitably divide our parental duties and responsibilities in our home. In some cases, we've re-learned that the best path to conquer a task is to tackle it together, as we did this month with the launch of a chore system for our boys, Maxwell and Coltrane. (Take away: An allowance really is an incredible motivator to get the kids dressed and ready for school on time!)
But now, things are a bit different. Different because we are at the 5 week mark until Election Day.
I know things are about to get really tough for Antonio, and the campaign will most definitely be taking up more of his time. And so, like Antonio does when I have a huge deadline, I'm prepared to shoulder the load at home while I keep my work on track (my secret to success is 4am wake-ups) as we come down the stretch, to ensure he can lock in and see this campaign through to a victory.
I have no doubt that he will thrive. That's because he puts his heart into every single thing he does. And I also have no doubt that you will be there for him, just like I intend to be.
So I'm asking if you can pitch in to keep things going strong.
This campaign is powered by a tremendous amount of grassroots support, so donating to emails like this is how we make sure Antonio stays ahead. And in the face of all the chaos, hate, and divisiveness -- we all could use a person like Antonio in Congress for another term.
As we approach the biggest FEC fundraising deadline of the entire election, your donation, no matter how big or small, makes the biggest difference in what this campaign will look like these last 5 weeks.
Please chip in $5 or whatever you can to Antonio's campaign here.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks for your support. I'm looking forward to these next few weeks -- because with so much at stake, it's an honor to be in this fight with you.
