Come to the October meeting: Moving forward with New York Renews
Thursday, October 8, 7:30 pm
350Brooklyn is a proud member of NY Renews, a statewide coalition of 230+ organizations that in 2019 pushed the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA). Passing CLCPA was a major victory and just the first step toward an effective and equitable climate plan! Come hear updates from NY Renews representatives on where we stand and where we need to go next, including how New York will pay to (re-)train workers, protect vulnerable communities, and build an entirely new energy infrastructure.
You must pre-register for this meeting at this link.
Join City Action for an hour of phone banking power!
Every Thursday at lunchtime, City Action gathers for phone-banking parties to gain support for our most pressing campaigns. This Thursday, October 1, starting at 12 pm, learn more about the Break Free from Plastic Pollution Act and help us bring more allies on board! On October 8 & 15, we will phone bank to win support against the Gowanus repowering. Join the City Action crew for some principled persuasion by signing up here. We'll circulate a link to join just before the meeting.
Time to get on the electric bus!
Join us for the Electric School Bus Coalition launch October 5 from 4-5 pm! We'll share more about the coalition and how you can get involved to help us bring electric school buses to NYC. Parents who are active on school boards or on PTAs are especially invited to contribute and help us make the case. Please post to social, spread the word, and join us for our virtual launch event! All are welcome. Register here.
Tweet and call for the Straws Upon Request bill!
On October 7 & 8, please join us in two simple actions to urge NYC Council Speaker Corey Johnson to bring council member Helen Rosenthal’s Straws Upon Request bill to a vote. This bill (936) will reduce the amount of non-recyclable plastic straws filling our landfills and littering our streets, the Hudson River, and the Atlantic Ocean.
Join our tweet-a-thon October 7 as we ask Corey Johnson to bring the Straws Upon Request Bill to a vote. Please find all details and sample scripts at beyondplastics.org. Join our Zoom event with live music at 12:30 pm for some company and entertainment while you tweet! RSVP here.
The following day, Thursday, October 8, follow up by making calls to Council Speaker Corey Johnson’s office. Call any time you can!
