AIPAC’s work is all the more essential as the threats facing Israel continue to mount. Below is a timeline of just some of the incidents we’ve witnessed in the past six months:
Sep 15, 2020: On the day Israel signed historic peace agreements with the UAE and Bahrain, terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired 15 rockets at Israel, injuring 13 people near Ashkelon and Ashod.
Aug 26, 2020: A Palestinian man fatally stabbed 36-year-old Israeli Rabbi Shai Ohayon near Petah Tikva in a suspected terror attack. Rabbi Ohayon was the father of four children aged 4-13.
Aug 25, 2020: A bomb flown over the border from Gaza landed on a basketball court in the Israeli city of Netivot. It was one of hundreds of explosives recently launched by Palestinian terrorists in Gaza using balloons and kites. The bomb detonated near a group of children. Fortunately, no one was injured.
Aug 21, 2020: Palestinian terrorists fired 12 rockets at Israel from the Gaza Strip, nine of which were intercepted by Iron Dome.
Aug 18, 2020: Terrorists in the Gaza Strip fired a rocket and dozens of explosives into Israel. Balloons and incendiary devices have destroyed nearly 1,400 acres of land in southern Israel this summer.
Aug 16, 2020: Hamas fired two rockets into Israel, sending thousands into bomb shelters in the middle of the night. One rocket damaged a home in Sderot. The other rocket was intercepted by Iron Dome.
Aug 10, 2020: Hamas fired a barrage of nearly a dozen missiles aimed towards the Mediterranean Sea as a warning to Israel. This followed a series of explosive-laden balloons that were launched from Gaza into southern Israel.
Aug 2, 2020: Four terrorists from Syria crossed into Israeli territory and attempted to plant bombs along the border fence. The IDF identified the terrorists and stopped the attack before any Israelis were injured.
Aug 2, 2020: Israelis attending a drive-in movie in southern Israel found themselves running to bomb shelters when Palestinian terrorists in Gaza launched a rocket toward Israel. Iron Dome intercepted the rocket.
Jul 27, 2020: Israel thwarted an infiltration attempt by a Hezbollah terrorist cell trying to attack northern Israel.
Apr 25, 2020: Iran launched a series cyberattacks on Israel's water infrastructure in an attempt to poison Israelis by injecting deadly levels of chlorine into the civilian water supply.
