Through their stories, we are looking not only to celebrate those that decide to come out, but to signal to the community that Egale is here to support those who need it, and to raise awareness around the difficulties of coming out. | | | | Calling LGBTQI2S Seniors for a New Documentary! On behalf of Keith Clarkson, member of our National Seniors Advisory Council (NSAC), and veteran documentary filmmaker, we’re looking for LGBTQI2S individuals to interview and possibly appear in an upcoming documentary. The film aims to shed light on overlooked issues like age discrimination and heightened rates of social isolation amongst queer seniors across Canada who are struggling with forms of discrimination that come with being an aging LGBTQI2S person. A large number of older LGBTQI2S individuals fear being forced back into the closet in residential care, while others choose not to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity to their primary healthcare provider because of the fear of discrimination. If you are a queer senior and interested in sharing your story, please contact: [email protected] Keith has worked in the Canadian media industry for over 30 years, producing films, TV series, and interactive digital projects that have been broadcast and exhibited at festivals and in theatres around the world, winning many awards, including two Emmys, two Geminis, a genie, a SXSW award, and Hot Docs Best Documentary award. You can check out some of Keith’s work here: Keith Clarkson IMDb |
