There's no doubt that the news about Donald Trump paying nearly nothing in federal taxes is disturbing and outrageous, friends -- but what's far more disturbing and outrageous is the fact that our system so often allows the wealthy and corporations to get away with this kind of corruption at the expense of everyone else.
We cannot sit idly by as a self-proclaimed billionaire who avoided paying federal income taxes in 10 out of 15 years is re-elected -- upholding a status quo that allows dozens of corporations to legally pay $0 in taxes while working-class people foot the bill. We cannot throw our hands in the air and give up during an economic crisis that has forced millions and millions of people to file for unemployment while billionaires' wealth grows by $845 billion. We've got to fight back -- and we've got to elect bold progressive leaders who will carry out policies that not only work for everyone but that lift people up.
That's why we had no choice but to raise our end-of-quarter goal to $400,000 to help get out the vote for bold progressives -- including Pramila -- up and down the ballot. But we're still falling short by a full $38,331 with only two days to go. Now is the moment to take bold action to help save our democracy.
Will you make your first contribution of $5, $10, or whatever you can toward our end-of-quarter goal in the next 48 hours? With so much at stake, we can't afford to fall even a dollar short.
For far too long, Trump, his ultra-wealthy friends, and the corporations who support him have exploited our system to work in their favor while working people have suffered. This pandemic has only exacerbated that suffering, which has motivated a new coalition of progressive candidates who are saying enough is enough. We must build a country that lifts up everyone and guarantees health care, education, and clean air and water for all. But we know the hard truth: that's only possible if we organize to fight for it.
Donate whatever you can to help us close this $38,331 gap to meet our critical $400,000 end-of-quarter goal. This is not a moment where we can risk falling short. [link removed]
