After Donald Trump won the 2016 election, he paid just $750 in federal income taxes. In 10 of the last 15 years, he paid nothing. A billionaire in 21st century America pays less towards the common good than a single parent making minimum wage.

it makes a lot more sense now why Trump was fighting so hard to hide his financial information

That’s by design. Thanks to our broken campaign finance system and decades of Republican tax cuts, we have built a system of economic injustice. The top 1% retain political power, while the rest of us struggle to get by.

This is about more than just Donald Trump. Together, we need to dismantle years of systemic changes designed to shift economic power away from the working class. That fight starts by passing real campaign finance reform. Can you donate to my reelection campaign to help me keep up the fight for real, systemic change?

Is there anything that illustrates how horrifically misaligned our priorities are than the comparison between the ease by which corporations and billionaires can receive miniscule tax bills, while the minimum wage in this country hasn’t been raised for over a decade?

It’s more than injustice – it’s cruel. Trump says that he’s just being smart to avoid taxes, and that he’s not a “sucker.” Is that what he thinks of every teacher, every nurse, every factory worker, every small business owner, and every other person who pays their fair share in taxes? If everyone operated like Donald Trump, our society wouldn’t function.

It’s time for people like Trump to pay their fair share. That’s why I’m fighting, every day, to repeal Trump’s tax cuts, to reform Citizens United, and to build a system that truly centers economic justice. If you want to support that right, contribute to my reelection campaign here.

Thanks for your time,
