Don't look away.
Generation Progress

Hi John,

The heartwrenching images and stories coming out of the U.S. migrant detention camps are clear: the harsh reality is that our country is inflicting large-scale cruelty and terrorism upon migrants and refugees in its custody.

We must face this moral crisis, and not look away as people, including families and children, are being subjected to inhumane treatment in our name. All human beings deserve dignity, and it’s time to end this unconscionable abuse.

Tomorrow, July 12, join us and thousands of people around the world at Lights for Liberty, a vigil to shed light on the horrific abuses of the Trump administration in human detention camps. We'll join together to demand justice and liberation for those held captive in inhumane conditions.

This undeniable tragedy at our border has inspired a massive response. Volunteers have signed up to host 628 vigils in the U.S. and across five continents, and the list keeps growing! Here’s how you can add your light to this global day of action:

Vigils will also be held at detention facilities with some of the worst conditions.

The Statue of Liberty holds a torch as a beacon of light to all those seeking liberty and justice in a new land. Each day that these detention camps continue to operate, our country is failing to live up to that ideal. #DontLookAway as these atrocities are done in our name, and join us this Friday to demand humane treatment and liberation of migrant families in U.S. custody.

Thanks for fighting,
