Dear Friend,

As our Jewish neighbors close the most sacred day of the year, I want to extend my wish that your fast was easy to all those observing Yom Kippur. The 10 days between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur mark a period of prayer and self-reflection, and gives people of all faiths an opportunity to reflect on what unites us instead of what divides us.

While today is a time for humility, reflection and contrition, it is also a day of hope and possibility. Through our prayers and through our actions, we can choose to focus on the ideals and common values we share.  On this high holy day, may our common faith in a better future unite us, and inspire us to work together toward the common good.

This message is one of hope and unity that I hope speaks to all people of every faith.

In solidarity,
