Major environmental votes next week: We need you.? ? ? ? Friend ? this week is going to be big.

After months of fighting Trump's plans to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and massively expand offshore drilling off US coastlines, we're finally going to see some major votes in the House of Representatives that could save the Refuge AND stop offshore drilling off huge parts of our coasts.

For all of us at LCV, these fights are so important because they are a critical moment to stand in solidarity with the Gwich'in people for whom the Arctic Refuge is sacred, and the coastal communities who have led the fight against offshore drilling.

We need your help. In the leadup to these votes that are expected on on Wednesday and Thursday, we're asking every LCV supporter to reach out to their representatives to ask them to support these bills.

Please, take a moment to click the TWO links below and submit two letters to your representative. If we win these votes, it's a huge slap in the face to Trump. He's been pushing these drilling efforts all summer ? the administration is about to greenlight drilling leases. Here are the details: The Arctic Cultural and Coastal Plain Protection Act (H.R. 1146): This bill will restore protections against drilling in the Refuge, halting all of Trump's Arctic Refuge drilling plans if it becomes law. The fight to protect the Refuge is a matter of basic human rights for the Gwich'in people and it's critical we support them. Sign now and tell your representatives to support H.R. 1146 and protect the Arctic Refuge now ? [link removed] The Coastal and Marine Economies Protection Act (H.R. 1941) and the Protecting and Securing Florida's Coastline Act (H.R. 205): Taken together, these bills will ban offshore drilling off the entire Atlantic and Pacific coasts, and permanently extend the drilling moratorium in the Eastern Gulf of Mexico. Coastal communities are already on the frontlines of the climate crisis and it's imperative we act to protect these communities from the risk of devastating oil spills. Send a message now to the House and urge them to protect our coasts and waters from Big Polluters ? [link removed] Thank you for all that you do to protect our communities and the environment.
