We know that Donald Trump has been disastrous for the environment. We also know that Vice President Joe Biden has a bold plan to address the climate crisis and create millions of well-paying, union jobs. *Here’s why it’s so important that climate change is discussed in the presidential debates.*

*BACKGROUND:* We’re at this pivotal climate moment because climate scientists were ignored or silenced for decades. Worse than the lack of attention given by those in power has been the continued efforts of fossil fuel lobbyists and polluting corporations to cast doubt on the severity and real consequences of climate change.

*NOW:* Though climate change is now part of the national conversation and a key issue to a majority of voters, our politicians have lagged behind. Our country is in the throes of multiple crises, and climate is connected to all of them. We cannot afford to ignore climate change any longer. And we need everyone to hear how our potential leaders will address the issue.

*That’s why climate needs to be a central focus of the 2020 presidential debates. We must know whether or not our leaders will protect the future of our planet and everyone living on it. Add your name to our petition if you agree:*
