Hi John -- Pete Buttigieg here. I’m proud to be writing to you today about Jared Golden.
Throughout my campaign for president, I tried my best to advance a unifying, action-oriented approach to government. I’m just not interested in scoring partisan points or furthering the broken, business-as-usual gridlock politics in Washington because I know that doesn’t do anything for America’s working families.
In Congress, Jared has embodied that same approach. In less than two years, he’s delivered results for the people of ME-02 by working across the aisle and carving his own, independent path -- even bucking party leaders and powerful special interest groups along the way.
That’s the kind of representation that all of our communities across the country need right now -- especially as we stare down a staggering slate of challenges. Jared and I agree that only by coming together and finding solutions that work for the American people will we be able to rise above them and come out stronger on the other side.

As a proud veteran, I’m always thrilled to see my fellow military men and women running for office and answering the call to service once again.
Jared served his country honorably in the Marine Corps infantry shortly after the 9/11 terror attacks. He’s now serving his country honorably once again, albeit in a different way, as the representative for Maine’s 2nd District.
That type of devotion to America’s precious democracy has never been more important. Our country and its fragile system of government have been put to the test this year, and we’ll need leaders like Jared to help guide it through to better days.
