A recent op-ed published in The Hill called Asian Americans “the politically neglected minority.”
The author finds: “AAPI’s political influence has grown exponentially; eligible voters have more than doubled since 2000 and more than 11 million will be able to vote this year. What’s more, AAPI communities make up nearly 5 percent of the nation’s eligible voters and their growing presence in battleground states such as Nevada, Georgia and Florida could carry the election for either candidate.”
But so far, outreach efforts are falling short, and we have no more time to lose before Election Day.
Michigan, a state Trump won in 2016 and is targeting again this election, has almost 175,000 eligible AAPI voters. Trump won the state by just 10,700 votes last election. If we don’t increase our outreach, the president could easily sweep key battleground states because we failed to talk with the voters we needed to win. We MUST send a message to the Democratic party that AAPI voters can no longer be ignored -- because if they are, we’ll be in for four more years of Trump’s America. That’s why we’re calling on you now to help us send a message while there’s still time:
