COVID‑19 is now spreading through Syria, introducing yet another crisis to an already dire situation. More than 6.1 million people have been forced to flee their homes and remain displaced within Syria. With many people here living in makeshift, overcrowded camps, basic necessities like food, water and medical care are sparse, and physical distancing is nearly impossible. COVID‑19 could spread through these camps like wildfire. Our teams are on the ground providing lifesaving aid, but the need is so great — our teams urgently require extra support: Make a gift to Mercy Corps’ Global Emergency Response Fund and help us reach our fundraising goal of $100,000 by September 30 to help families facing crisis in Syria and around the world. In Northwest Syria, Mercy Corps’ teams have been preparing for COVID‑19 outbreaks in the camps, increasing the amount of soap and water we provide to each family, delivering additional water tanks to improve safe water storage, and distributing COVID‑19 flyers and educating communities on the risk and how to stay safe. Your generosity helps make work like this possible. Your gift to our Global Emergency Response Fund helps our teams to provide immediate relief in the aftermath of dire hunger, violent conflict, natural disasters and other major crises. Make your first gift to Mercy Corps in support of our Global Emergency Response Fund today to help families in Syria and around the world. With gratitude, Country Director, Syria Kieren has worked in some of the world’s most challenging places, from Somalia to Afghanistan to Iraq and now Syria. He has applied his skills and experience to cultivate life-sustaining programs for vulnerable communities. |
