Hi John,
It’s been six months since COVID became a constant presence in our lives. Here’s our reality today:
- More than 6.9 million Americans have contracted the virus and more than 200,000 have died.
- Millions of people recently lost their $600 per week expanded unemployment payments.
- Parents are desperately trying to find safe solutions for child care and distance learning arrangements.
- This is the sixth month in a row where the majority of domestic workers surveyed told us they did not have the money for rent -- in part because many were cruelly excluded from federal relief.
We deserve better -- yet outrageously the Senate is talking about confirming a replacement for Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s Supreme Court seat before they pass a desperately needed COVID relief package. They’ve had a relief bill on their desks for MONTHS, but instead of taking action they are now trying to rush through a Supreme Court confirmation 39 days out from the election...when voters around the country have already begun casting their ballots. This is unacceptable and we can’t let them off the hook.
Write your senators today and tell them to go back to the negotiating table and pass a COVID relief package that supports essential workers!
There are mere days left in the official Senate calendar to pass a COVID relief package before senators leave D.C. until AFTER the election. They don’t deserve a break, not when millions of Americans are struggling to support their families.
The Senate needs to do what it was elected to do: work on behalf of the American people. They can and must pass a comprehensive relief package, instead of rushing through a lifetime appointment to fill the seat of a woman who spent her whole life fighting for justice.
This is where you come in: if senators feel pressure from voters and concerned citizens like you it is NOT too late to get them to make this happen.
This crisis has taken so much from so many. Before senators leave D.C., we need to make sure they hear from constituents like you about how important it is that they pass a relief package NOW. Take two minutes and write your senator and demand they support and pass a comprehensive relief package.
Thank you for all that you do,
