The eyes of the nation will be watching what is said and what is not said. Fox News, hosting the debate, has released their topics and something is seriously amiss: Environmental justice, climate change, or even the environment are not included in the list of topics. With climate fires raging across the west, hurricanes in the east, flooding in the Midwest—these issues that affect us all need to be discussed. Washington Conservation Voters this year launched the Evergreen Future campaign. The campaign elevates leaders who prioritize public health, protect workers, and invest in policies that address climate change, clean up toxic pollution, and restore our forests and waters. What does Evergreen Future have to do with the debate on President of the United States? It's simple—the work we do at the state level impacts decisions at the federal level. The work you've put into elevating environmental justice in Washington emboldened Governor Inslee. His comprehensive plans on the environment, that were at the center of his run for President, have shaped the plans Joe Biden put forward. Our collective action has changed the conversation. From local, to state, to national races, 2020 is a consequential election year for us all. Volunteer with WCV to create the Evergreen Future that we all deserve! Thank you for all you are doing.
