Join The DSA-LA Text Team!

DSA-LA is using Spoke to mass-text our members about important events. We need your help! If you've used Spoke before, or if you're ready to learn how to use this vital organizing tool, we want you to help us do mass-message Spoke campaigns for our chapter's campaigns. You need a computer and an email address. That's it! This volunteer opportunity will take 1-2 hours per week and will help mobilize our chapter membership. We're phonebanking again this week for Yes on 15 and DSA-endorsed candidates Konstantine Anthony, Fatima Iqbal-Zubair, and Nithya Raman. This week's Yes on 15 Phonebank will be with DSA comrades across the state and  East Bay DSA-endorsed candidate Jovanka Beckles. If you're new to phonebanking, don't worry; we'll teach you!

DSA 102: Fatima Organizers

TODAY: Monday, September 28th @ 6:00PM-8:00PM
DSA 102 will review how to effectively conduct a one-on-one organizing conversation. We invite DSA-LA organizers working on the Fatima for State Assembly Campaign to join us for this special 2-part training!
If you’re unfamiliar, the one-on-one meeting is the quintessential tool of the organizer and if you’re in DSA Los Angeles, you should understand how to engage in strategic and effective one-on-one conversations to move people to action.
In this first session, we’ll go over the basics of a successful one-on-one organizing conversation. Attendees will then be asked to put their skills to use by inviting new members to phonebank for Fatima on Sunday, October 4th at 12:30 pm. Our second session will be held directly before the phonebank, where members will have a chance to assess their work with help from other organizers. Please make sure you are available to attend all three events to successfully complete this training.

Class on Class Part 1: Class Under Capitalism

The DSA Los Angeles Political Education Committee is proud to present The Class on Class! This study series examines a selection of foundational concepts and inquiries, with the goal of more deeply grounding our collective struggle in rigorous socialist analysis. The Class is comprised of four individual yet interconnected modules — each featuring a selection of readings and discussion questions, as well as a presentation followed by opportunity to discuss, dissect & debate these concepts.
Our first module, Class Under Capitalism, will lay a foundation for the entire Class on Class—readings have been selected to introduce and reintroduce members to what we mean when we talk about “relations of production,” why socialists focus on the working class, and why our collective liberation necessarily requires that we go beyond mitigating the harms endemic to capitalism and dismantle the capitalist system entirely.

We’ll be joined by everyone’s favorite candidate Nithya Raman herself, as well as local artists volunteering some of their chill vibes for us to scribble to.
