The strangest baseball regular season ever has drawn to an end. Basketball and hockey
are finishing their playoffs in a bubble. Football is being played to an ever-diminishing
audience. But politics, older than all the other sports, is in full swing! President
Trump has announced an eminently qualified jurist, Amy Coney Barrett, as his nominee
to the Supreme Court seat vacated by the passing of Ruth Bader Ginsburg. It appears
that the Democrats will abandon their challenges to her nomination on abortion and
religious grounds, and concentrate on portraying her as a threat to Obamacare, which
itself is of dubious popularity and effectiveness, especially after Pres. Trump's
Executive Order on pre-existing medical conditions.
And tomorrow night, former Vice President Joe Biden takes the lid off, steps out
of his bunker and faces what we expect will be non-softball questions for the first
time since his nomination. Can Biden last the full 90 minutes? Can he withstand
both Chris Wallace's questions and Donald Trump's challenges and attacks? Tune in
Tuesday night and find out...Biden's performance may well determine the election.
Remember that Ronald Reagan effectively ended Walter Mondale's campaign with one
debate answer in 1984!
