This weekend, Ben talked to you about Michigan and today I want to talk to you about another important 2020 battleground: North Carolina.
John, North Carolina could determine who will win the White House and which party will control the Senate after November.
POLITICO is calling both the presidential race and the Senate race in North Carolina toss ups and polls show both races are going to be close. It’s not just about the White House. North Carolina gets Democrats one seat closer to Senate control.
Trump and Republicans are nervous about losing North Carolina, and it shows. Trump and GOP super PACs have already spent $49 million in North Carolina. They’re spending more in North Carolina than almost any other state. That’s a sign.
North Carolinians are already voting from home.
In 2016, fewer than 200,000 mail-in ballots were cast in North Carolina. This year, more than 100,000 mail-in ballots have already been cast in the state -- and that’s with five weeks still to go until Election Day. There are still more to come -- North Carolina received nearly 900,000 requests for mail-in ballots.
We’re reaching out to North Carolina voters to make sure they have a plan to return their ballot in time to be counted. We’ve made more than 6,000 calls and sent more than 2.6 million texts to voters in North Carolina -- and we’re just getting started!
Thanks,
Carlos
