A recent poll from the Trafalgar Group shows Donald Trump leading Joe Biden in Michigan, 46.6% to 45.2%.
Trump’s lead in the key battleground, which the Washington Post called “a defining swing state” in 2020, comes at the same time that Biden’s lead nationally has shrunk to just 4 points in a CNN poll -- barely outside the margin of error.
This is cause for alarm. Trump is gaining on Biden with less than two months still to go until Election Day, and there is still a long list of possible October surprises -- like Trump announcing a COVID vaccine or a potential change in jobs numbers -- that could boost the president’s odds even further.
We need to drum up enthusiasm for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris, and we need to do it now -- before these poll numbers get any worse.
