From the very beginning, our campaign has refused 100% of any PAC money — absolutely no corporate or special interest cash. That means as our team plans our final 37 day sprint to Election Day, we’re counting on grassroots donations to fuel the majority of our work. But there’s a problem.
Just a few weeks ago, an out-of-district Republican donor helped create a new super PAC to funnel support for our opponent. Here’s the issue: thanks to our broken campaign finance system, we have no idea how much money they’re going to funnel into this race.
We’ll be honest with you here — it’s not a great feeling to be in the dark. Having a campaign finance system that allows dark money donors to jump into the race with less than a month left to respond isn’t how our democracy is supposed to work.
That’s part of the reason why Ro’s fought so hard to return our democracy to the people. The existence of super PACs like the one our opponent is relying on steals representation away from working-class folks and puts it in the hands of special interest donors who can toss hundreds of thousands of dollars into efforts to subvert the will of the people.
In solidarity,
Team Ro
