Patriot,
Today we celebrate Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar and the conclusion of our High Holy Days. On this day each year, Jews fast and pray. We also ask others for forgiveness and reflect carefully on our own behavior and actions.
Depending on how we act during Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, our fate for the year is decided, and, if we have lived well, we are inscribed in the Book of Life.
This weekend, I’ve had the opportunity to meet many of you in your homes, and I’ve listened to your anxieties and concerns about the future of our great nation. This has made this year’s holy day of introspection and self-reflection an especially meaningful experience.
Yom Kippur is a chance to deepen our relationship with God through the practice of teshuva, or repentance. As it says in Leviticus: "For on this day shall atonement be made for you, to cleanse you; from all your sins shall ye be clean before the Lord."
From my family to yours: Have a meaningful fast. G’mar chatima tova.
Respectfully,
Laura Loomer
