Hey --
Trump just announced his SCOTUS nominee, who he wants to be the deciding vote on rolling back our civil liberties and keeping him in power.
But if 10 whole months was too close to the 2016 election to hold confirmation hearings on Merrick Garland, then five weeks before the 2020 election, in the middle of a pandemic, must certainly be too soon, right? Surely the American people should get a say on the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's replacement? If you asked Mitch McConnell, you'd be wrong.
It only took two hours after Justice Ginsburg passed for the Republican Senate to decide that their years-long quest to repeal the ACA and overturn Roe v. Wade is more important than their sworn oath to uphold the Constitution. Two hours to decide this while not lifting a finger to aid people impacted by COVID-19 -- the millions of people out of work, folks struggling to pay rent and put food on the table, or the 200,000 people who have died.
We must force McConnell's Senate to follow its own rules. Add your name to tell the Senate: NO confirmation hearings until after the next president's inauguration.

A final request of Justice Ginsburg's was: "My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed." After decades of service to our nation, Trump and his allies in the Senate need to honor her final wish.
Trump sacrifices the rule of law and our Constitution for his own political gain -- and McConnell and his allies in the Senate either ignore or enable his dangerous actions. They don't care about the system of checks and balances, so a Court majority of GOP-sympathizers would be disastrous for our future.
Instead of ramming through a judicial nominee with weeks until Election Day (and some states are already voting), McConnell's Senate must wait until after the inauguration and allow the American people to have a voice in a decision that will shape our country for decades.
