You get a lot of emails from folks on our campaign, from our campaign manager Devan to our finance director and so on.

And we like to keep it interesting around here, so sometimes we make a few side bets to see who can raise more money.

The other day, our digital director (Abby) sent an email that outperformed mine and she’s had bragging rights all darn week!

So, Abby and I made a friendly bet this morning — we’re both going to send you a fundraising email sometime today and whoever raises the most has to buy the other one lunch (North Carolina BBQ, of course).

Here’s my pitch:

This race is extremely close. Statistically tied in most polls. And while our campaign is in a good position to win here, outside groups are spending obscene amounts of money on attack ads against me — and our budget has been incredibly stretched in the last week.

With our FEC deadline coming up on Wednesday, we need every available dollar out there to fund our paid media campaign and to communicate with as many voters as possible in the final weeks here.

I’m asking you to help us fight back and flip this seat. A small donation of even $10 can go a long way because over time it all adds up — and it’s what we’ll need to win this race:
