Michael Bloomberg has paid off the fines of 32,000 formerly incarcerated individuals in the swing state of Florida -- enabling Americans who have paid their debt to society to regain the right to vote.
It’s no surprise that Republicans -- including Rep. Matt Gaetz, Florida AG Ashley Moody, and President Donald Trump -- are opposed to the idea. After all, the entire GOP election strategy is based around keeping as many Americans away from their ballots as humanly possible.
We’ve seen Republicans pass racist voter ID laws, close polling places, purge voters from the rolls, impose modern-day poll taxes, and threaten to use law enforcement to scare Americans from fulfilling their civic duty.
The GOP shouldn’t get to rig the rules of the game so that only conservatives are able to vote -- but that’s exactly what they’re trying to do. We need to call them out in no uncertain terms: let Republicans know we see what they’re doing and won’t stand for it. Are you with us? Tell us now:
