Folks, I'm going to be upfront: in this email I'm going to ask for a donation to help me and Democrats defeat Donald Trump in November. But first, let me explain why your contribution is one of the most powerful tools in this fight for the soul of this nation.
There are just 37 days left in this campaign. On Tuesday, I will face Donald Trump on the debate stage for the first time. And Wednesday is our end-of-month fundraising deadline.
Every time pundits said the end was near for this campaign, one thing made sure it wasn't: grassrootssupporters like you keeping the faith and keeping the lights on.
Because that's the truth, I'm serious. This fight has always been powered by grassroots supporters -- people like you, chipping into emails like this one. Last month alone, grassroots donors made 95% of all the contributions to my campaign.
And while asking for money is one of the worst parts of the job, I know that emails like this are necessary. Thanks to grassroots supporters like you, we've closed the gap on Trump's cash-on-hand advantage and can reach more voters every day. But we're still in the fight of our lives against Trump's campaign and his dark-money outside backers.
I was reviewing your record, and I want to thank you for being a supporter. If you are able to give, I'd like to ask you for your first $25 donation today. If you chip in through this link you'll also be automatically entered for a chance to win a call with me after the debate.

I have faith that grassroots fundraising will be the key to beating Trump because I've seen it this whole campaign.
I know we ask for money a lot, but I hope that you can see how important supporters like you are to everything we do. Winning the battle for the soul of this nation is not a one-person job. I'm grateful to you for joining the fight, however you can help.
So if you can help raise the $1,732,500 we need from Pennsylvania before Wednesday with your first $25 today, please do. I may give you a call to thank you myself right after the debate:
