As you know, President Trump made good on his threat for a payroll tax cut by issuing an executive order that would allow Social Security to be starved of much-needed revenue — incredibly, at a time when this critical program should be strengthened, not cut. What’s worse, he made this ominous promise: "If I win, I may extend and terminate." So we can bank on further attacks on Social Security if President Trump wins reelection.
In a recent poll the National Committee conducted online, 91% of respondents indicated they do NOT believe President Trump has the authority to order the Internal Revenue Service to stop collecting payroll taxes which fund Social Security and Medicare. That’s because National Committee supporters like you understand that any cut to or deferment of the payroll tax would devastate the future of Social Security and Medicare — and undermine the earned right nature of these programs.
With so much hanging in the balance for beneficiaries, will you support our full-scale battle in Congress to pass the “Save Our Social Security Now Act” (H.R. 8171) that nullifies the President’s dangerous executive order and protects Social Security by making one urgent donation of $10 or $5 today?
