I am tired of hoping that Senator Susan Collins will do the right thing.

Susan Collins claims to be a moderate. She claims to be pro-choice. But we know exactly who she is. When push comes to shove, she will vote with her party and Donald Trump at the expense of American women.

Almost two years ago, after weeks of misleading the public and claiming she was considering the case against confirmation, Susan Collins — the supposedly "pro-choice" Republican senator — voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court anyway.

And now, in the wake of Justice Ginsburg's passing and a new Supreme Court vacancy, Senator Collins has another hugely important decision in front of her.

Last week, Collins put out a weak statement claiming she won't vote to confirm the nominee before the election. I can't help but feel déjà vu here.

Susan Collins is not going to do the right thing.

She'll do or say whatever it takes to win her election in 38 days, and then the moment Mainers can no longer hold her accountable for her actions, she'll toe the party line and put a conservative justice on the Court for life.

Susan Collins doesn't care about reproductive rights. She doesn't care about Mainers. She doesn't care about holding Trump accountable. She cares about one thing only: holding onto her own power.

And that's exactly why we need to vote her out this November.
