Breaking news:

Just moments ago, President Trump announced his nominee to fill Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s seat on the Supreme Court.

Since the very same night of Justice Ginsburg’s passing, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has made it clear he intends to rush this nominee through confirmation hearings ASAP — before more COVID-19 relief is passed, and before voters even have the chance to make their voices heard in this election.

Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith has fallen in line and said she’ll join McConnell in rushing this nominee to the bench.

This leaves health care at risk like never before. Because on November 10 — just one week after Election Day — the Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments in the administration’s attempt to repeal the Affordable Care Act and rip health care coverage away from millions of people with pre-existing conditions forever.

I want to be very clear. I am against the repeal of the ACA, full stop. Unlike Senator Hyde-Smith, I believe we must work to build upon the existing health care law — not tear it down and hurt hundreds of thousands of Mississippians in the process. If you’re with me, please rush $10 now to support my campaign so I can fight for our health care in the U.S. Senate.

If Mitch McConnell, the administration, and Cindy Hyde-Smith succeed in overturning the ACA, it means anyone in America with a pre-existing condition — including myself and 600,000 of my fellow Mississippians — could be charged more or denied health care coverage altogether.

And as we still find ourselves in the middle of this pandemic, COVID-19 and its complications could be the next deniable pre-existing conditions. That’s 7 million Americans. That’s 90,000 Mississippians.

Since she was elected in 2018, Cindy Hyde Smith has consistently fallen in line with her party and attempted to rip away protections for the 600,000 Mississippians living with preexisting conditions. Hyde-Smith and this administration have  no plan to address the health care crisis in the U.S. — even in the middle of a global pandemic and an economic crisis that has left so many uninsured.

They will stop at nothing. Their only health care goal is to rip coverage away from millions of Americans. And now they’re all the more likely to succeed.

Unlike Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, I will be an independent voice for Mississippi in the U.S. Senate. No one can tell me how to vote, what to say, or how to think. I pledge to you that I will do something that I have done all of my life. I will defend our health care and move Mississippi forward, for all of us.

If you’re with me in this fight to flip the Senate and protect our health care, please rush a contribution of $10 or whatever you can right now in light of this urgent news. We have to do everything we can in these final days to fight back and save our health care:
