It's official, President Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett for the Supreme Court.
In 2016, our nation could feel that the direction of our country was decisively on the ballot, and that whoever we elected President would affect the courts in a consequential way. It galvanized voters across the country to decisively choose a President who would only nominate Constitutional jurists for all of our courts.
And that's just what he's done.
In 2018, voters helped Republicans expand control of the Senate to help confirm these nominees. With more than 200 confirmed judges throughout the country, including our exceptional Supreme Court Justices Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, we know that our judicial branch of government will be interpreting the law as our Founders intended, not making up new laws and usurping the legislative branch.
For too long, we've seen activist judges infringe on our rights and religious liberties. Today is a great day for our country and our values. I hope you'll join me in praying for Judge Amy Coney Barrett and our Senators as they begin the confirmation process.
