Friends, we absolutely must protect our House majority and flip the White House – it might be the only safeguard for our democracy against ultraconservative extremism.
Instead of honoring Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg’s final wish to fill her vacancy after the election, President Trump today announced Amy Coney Barrett as his Supreme Court nominee – and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is rushing to get a confirmation vote in the Senate before Election Day.
At this point, it's not just voting rights, women's right to choose and health care on the line in the court's next term. As the president continues to sow mistrust in our institutions and the results of this election – and as millions of Americans vote by mail to protect their health due to the pandemic he's allowed to ravage our country – he's suggesting that he won't concede and wants to stack the court in case it decides the election results.
Nov. 3 was already set to be the most consequential election in a generation. Now, the stakes have become even higher. We must fight harder than ever before to deliver a decisive victory to Joe Biden – to protect the future of our republic, our democracy and our civil rights. To do that, we have to win – and that comes down to what we do in Florida: We need to flip the White House, take back the Senate and defend our Democratic House majority.
