It's official. Donald Trump just nominated a far-right extremist to fill Justice Ginsburg's seat.

Now, it's up to us to fight like hell to stop her. Let's get to work:

Add your name: Demand Senate Democrats use every tool possible to stop this nomination. Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell are trying to rig the court for generations to come, so we cannot give an inch.

Right now, Mitch McConnell thinks he has the votes and by all indications he does. Republicans have made clear their intention is to hold a confirmation vote before Election Day.

But now that we have a nominee, Senate Democrats must do whatever it takes to prevent this nomination from proceeding.

Amy Coney Barrett's views are extreme. She doesn't believe people with pre-existing conditions have a right to affordable health care. She doesn't believe LGBTQ couples should be allowed to marry. She will vote to deport Dreamers. Given the chance, she would eagerly vote to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Her nomination is dangerous -- a clear threat to our rights and our democracy.

Now is not the time to mince words or pretend the normal rules are in play. With every step forward in this process, Republicans are further breaking the Senate.

I promise to do everything in my power to make sure Justice Ginsburg's last wish is honored, but it will take a grassroots movement to keep the pressure on as many of my colleagues as possible.

This is a lifetime appointment. The consequences are too severe for us not to put everything on the line.
