“We're talking about Justice Scalia, you know, the staunchest conservative on
the court, and we're talking about him being replaced by someone who could
dramatically flip the balance of power on the court. It's not a lateral move."

That is what Judge Amy Coney Barrett said back in 2016, while Mitch McConnell
refused to hold a hearing for President Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick
Garland. 

She argued that appointing a liberal judge to replace a conservative judge in an
election year would change the balance of the court -- that it was a dangerous
move.

But here we are, in 2020, facing the same issue -- except this time, Amy Coney
Barrett is the one replacing progressive icon Ruth Bader Ginsburg. Mitch
McConnell and Donald Trump are doing this in an election year in an attempt to
change the balance of the court.

Mitch McConnell’s hypocrisy is dangerous to our democracy. The purpose of the Senate is not to do the absolute bidding of a right-wing and tyrannical president -- but that’s what it’s doing, and the American people will continue to suffer because of it.

This nomination will change the dynamics of the Supreme Court for more than a
