It's official: Trump wants to install a long-term majority in his own image on the Supreme Court. Health care, from pre-existing conditions to safe and accessible abortion; LGBTQ protections; civil rights; even crippling the EPA to forfeit the fight against climate change — it could all unravel, one arduous case at a time. Decades of progressive work, laws we thought were settled — undone, piece by piece. He even says he wants the new Justice approved immediately to decide any post-election lawsuits or shut down counting of mail-in ballots. Nominating Amy Coney Barrett makes it clear that the Affordable Care Act is in the immediate crosshairs, even more than 7 million Americans have been diagnosed with COVID-19, a new pre-existing condition.
