John,

I am writing today to ask for your help. As I am sure you already know, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, and the rest of their GOP allies are rushing to ram through the appointment of a new Supreme Court justice, even before the November 3 election. They even went so far as to ramp up this effort while Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was still lying in state at the Capitol.

Of course, this is unacceptable -- not to mention completely hypocritical -- given the way the Republicans treated President Obama's highly qualified SCOTUS nominee, Judge Merrick Garland, in 2016.

It doesn't matter who the nominee is. This is not the right time.

I'm asking you to sign your name to our petition to call on the Senate to hold off on any confirmation of a nominee for the Supreme Court until AFTER the inauguration of the next president.

This is about far more than rampant hypocrisy and extreme partisanship. It is also about critically important issues, like: The ACA, collective bargaining rights, Roe v. Wade, the protection of Dreamers, preserving the planet. The stakes couldn't be higher.

The nominee to replace Justice Ginsburg should be carefully considered, vetted and voted on by the Senate only AFTER the next president is installed.
