World Environmental Health Day highlights the great impacts that climate change has on the health of our community.

From wildfires on the West Coast to the pollution of our water to the emergence of new diseases like COVID-19, there’s no denying it: we are living in a moment of climate crisis, and we simply must take transformative action if we’re going to avoid catastrophic consequences. I have been a strong advocate for legislative action to protect the environment for just that reason, which is why I was an original co-sponsor of the Green New Deal.

Everyone deserves clean air and clean water. That shouldn’t be too much to ask.

This has never been such a pressing matter. Joe Biden has promised to transform the U.S. energy sector, modernize our infrastructure, promote sustainable agriculture, secure environmental justice and more, but we need climate action now to curb the worst effects of the climate chaos we are experiencing.
