As Hurricane Dorian makes U.S. landfall and continues to move along the east coast in the peak of hurricane season, what’s the President doing? Taking money from FEMA to pay for his border wall.

Not only is he stealing money from those who may need it in the aftermath of this and other natural disasters, but he also just got the Pentagon to give him a whopping $3.6 BILLION that was meant for projects to help service members and their families. Remember when Republicans claimed to be the party of the military and family values? So much for that.

Trump’s getting away with this BS because he claims the situation at the border is a national emergency that only his wall can solve.

Let’s get one thing straight: the only crisis at the border is the one Donald Trump created through his family separation policy, ramped-up deportation force, ICE raids, and modern day concentration camps packed with migrant children and their families. A wall along the southern border will not solve anything: it’s just an incredibly expensive monument to racism.

We simply can’t afford another four years of a president who throws immigrants, taxpayers, and military families under the bus for the sake of a racist, vanity project. Democracy for America will endorse and support a progressive presidential candidate in the 2020 election, and we must ensure we have what it’ll take to make sure they win.
