I want to share some updates with you from Georgia and across the nation. Here are five things you need to know:
1. This week I toured 4 local farms and met with agricultural leaders to discuss the needs of our farming communities, particularly in this time of crisis. Tomorrow I will visit even more farms in our district. I am proud to represent a district that feeds so much of America, and I am committed to prioritizing agricultural communities in Congress.
2. In Congress, the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution to avoid a government shutdown. This includes $8 billion in food assistance for needy families and protection for farmers and ranchers. However, this resolution would not have been necessary if Senate Republicans had passed a budget for 2021. I urge the Senate to put partisan gridlock aside and provide the bare minimum of a functioning government for the American people.
3. Since I last reached out about the key fundraising deadline on September 30, so many of you stepped up and contributed to this campaign for the people. I am deeply grateful for that. Charonda, our finance director, has calculated that we still need to raise $5,150 in individual contributions to stay on track.
