Hi John,

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg dedicated her life to fighting for justice and inspired countless people to follow in that pursuit. There is no doubt that we are a stronger and safer country thanks to her.

It is hard to overstate the implications her passing could have on the future of gun safety in the United States. All of our progress on gun violence prevention is at risk. If her seat is filled with a Trump nominee, all our hard-won gun responsibility laws—from background checks to concealed carry restrictions—could be undone.

This hits close to home: Initiative 1639, the voter-approved restrictions on semi-automatic assault rifles, is still being challenged in court. We know the law is constitutional, but an activist Supreme Court could decide otherwise, jeopardizing this lifesaving measure and so many others.

It's been reported that Donald Trump will nominate Judge Amy Coney Barrett to replace Justice Ginsburg. We cannot let her nomination move forward.

Justice Ginsburg gave us our charge in her own words, “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” We must fight to ensure the American people have a say in our next Supreme Court justice.

Here are three things you can do to honor RBG’s legacy:

Republicans have already stolen one Supreme Court seat. They should not be allowed to further erode our democracy. Our rights are at risk. Our safety. Our health care. Our access to voting. Our education. Our reproductive rights. Our economic security. Our housing. Our disability rights. Our ability to live freely and fully. We need our Court to recognize and protect all of us.

Thank you for being by our side,
